The friend that I attempted to contact after 30 some years, has 'returned' my e-mail ( not re-buffed, but that would not have surprised me if she had ).

We were 16 when we last knew each other, and in a nutshell..............
I ended up marrying her boyfriend, hence the lack of continued friendship.
Eventual Karma - What goes around comes around and suffice to say it did not last and the hurt and pain was distributed around.
I have learnt the lesson 'Nicketh not, another woman's man.........'

We have both decided to let the past go, but should I have picked up this thread again ?
Only time will tell....................
